We thank God for those who mother well.
We thank God for those who mother us.
We thank God for those we mother.
I am very lucky. I have a loving mother, who I get to phone to wish Happy Birthday and Happy Mother’s Day.
I also know this is not the case for so many others. There are many who have been lovingly mothered by others in their life. And others still for whom Sunday will be difficult.
Happy Mother’s Day to those who will be celebrating with their families this weekend, whatever they look like.
For those who have lost their mothers, mothers who have lost children, those with strained mother / child relationships, and those yearning to be mothers we are thinking of you.
Happy Mother’s Day.

On the evening of Thursday 9 May, we hosted the Deputy Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Mr Matai Seremaiah, dignitaries and officials as they shared about the upcoming constitutional referendum in Vanuatu later in the month.
It was delightful to host 300-400 ni-Vanuatu RSE Workers who call Hawke’s Bay home during the working season.Image attachmentImage attachment+1Image attachment

First Thirds Ministry – Praying for Young Disciples
Jesus said, “Let the children come to me, & do not stop them, for it is to such as these that the kingdom of heaven belongs.”
Matthew 19:14
We share the longing that Jesus expresses here in Matthew’s gospel – to welcome children & young people into His kingdom.
Embracing ministry & mission with the First Third (children, young people, young adults & their families) is both a wonderful & challenging focus for the church. It must be, & must remain, a key priority for the future.
It would be a delight if more of our tamariki & rangatahi know that they are loved by God; that they can find meaning & purpose in being followers of Jesus Christ; & know both forgiveness & a secure identity in God’s love for this life & all eternity.
Join us in praying for a renewal of ministry amongst the First Third at 8.30am from Ascension Day, Thursday 9 May, until The Day of Pentecost, Sunday 19 May in the Lady Chapel of St Matthew’s Anglican Church.
Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church & in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever & ever. Amen.
Ephesians 3:20-21
